One of the genuinely iconic postcard issues from just after the turn of the century features an incredible team photograph of the 1907-09 Detroit Tigers team at the dawn of the greatest dynasty in club history, a run of three consecutive American League pennants. Ty Cobb, winning the first three batting championships of his record 12 in his fabled career, is smack dab in the middle of this amazing postcard, looking about as youthful as the great Hall of Famer would ever appear to be in period cards and memorabilia. The postcard has notations around the borders on the front in elegant fountain-pen cursive; an address in the same hand appears on the back, along with an upside-down 2-Cent stamp with George Washington pictured, postmarked in Detroit, Mich., Oct. 14, 1907. Assessed with a PSA Authentic grade, the 3 ½ -by-5 ½-inch postcard presents close to VG-Ex condition.
