Here’s an outstanding example of the key John McGraw card from the elegant 1912 T207 Brown Border issue, a unique design of a kind of somber-brown motif that followed several years of colorful tobacco sets that rank among the most important in hobby history. The offered card is in a PSA 4 holder, a condition markedly better than how these classic cards are usually encountered in mature collections. The silver-bordered card has nary a whisper of the ubiquitous “crackling” that often confronts this high-gloss issue, off center to the right and bottom; the Recruit Little Cigars back is almost as impressive as the front, largely devoid of staining and nicely centered with uncommonly crisp and vivid black printing, creating a wonderful presentation of the biography and statistics of the legendary Hall of Fame skipper.
