Presented is a World Series program from the Detroit Tigers’ epic battle in 1934 with the St. Louis Cardinals’ notorious “Gas House Gang,” all neatly housed in a striking 15-by-12-inch wooden plaque. The 8 ¼-by-11-inch program from Navin Field in Detroit presents in essentially Very Good condition, with only the expected light creasing from nominal handling and a tiny nick from one corner of the back cover. In addition, a couple of pages have come loose from the center double truck that includes the scorecard sections for both teams, with both unscored. The 52-page program slides into a handsome plexiglass holder that is affixed to the polished Cherrywood plaque. Beneath the holder is a nameplate with “World Series 1934, St. Louis Cardinals, Navin Field” engraved. The plaque itself is essentially as-issued and in pristine condition.
