Presented here is an extremely rare uncut sheet (5 3/4-by-7 1/8 inches) featuring six 1935 Goudey cards and picturing the complete black-and-white Puzzle of Hall of Famer Al Simmons. The reverse of the 1935 Goudey cards features Puzzle pieces, which when assembled form an approximately 6-by-7 ¼-inch black-and-white baseball picture. One of the most fascinating qualities of an uncut 1935 Goudey sheet, in addition to the novelty of its great rarity, is that when turned over one can view the reverse Puzzle already assembled, as it appeared before being cut. Each 1935 Goudey card front features four players. Among the 24 players featured on this six-card uncut sheet are eight Hall of Famers, including Mel Ott, Dizzy Dean, Frankie Frisch, Mickey Cochrane, Charlie Gehringer, Earl Averill, Luke Appling and Heinie Manush. The six cards included on the sheet are Nos. 4, 5, 17, 22, 31 and 32, according to the numbering in the Standard Catalog of Baseball Cards. The sheet presents close to Ex-Mt but would probably command a formal grade of Very Good because of a couple of very small and unobtrusive creases that are only noticed upon careful examination and do not detract from the presentation. Like all Goudeys, R321s were originally printed on 24-card sheets and are a lot rarer in sheet form than other 1930s Goudey issues.
