Presented is a unique opportunity to pick up an impressive grouping of one of the great non-sport issues of the Depression Era, the colorful 1936 G-Men & Heroes of the Law set that features exotic, graphic paintings on the front and giddy, descriptive tales of law enforcement heroics on the backs. The coveted issue is a true classic of the period and further enhanced for serious non-sport collectors by a pedigree that includes genuine scarcity, a high-number array that is even more challenging than its predecessors, and a tricky two-dozen variations at the beginning of the set, all gussied up in a skip-numbered arrangement that would have befuddled the famed cryptographers of the second world war. The acclaimed R60 issue by legendary non-sport manufacturer Gum Inc., features cards broadly 2 ½-by-3 1/8 inches, and this array of 85 mostly different pieces would provide a spectacular start on completing an extraordinarily difficult set. Included with this lot are 13 of the ultra-difficult high numbers (card Nos. 201-451) and eight (8) of the “No Copyright” variations that appear in Nos. 1-24. The variations are noted with an asterisk in the listing below and all eight have been included in the photo grouping included with this lot; the offered lot is in an attractive Very Good to Ex-Mt overall range (86 percent) buoyed by 10 cards that have been cracked out of PSA slabs (the PSA labels for the 10 cards are included) that offer a nice glimpse into the wider condition range.
