In this instance Swell is a company name rather than an adjective, though we could probably employ the lower-case version as well. Even in grainy black and white, this is still a swell card of the legendary Robinson, one that dutifully reports on its reverse about Jackie being “the first of his race to play Major League Baseball.” On a card entitled with a bit of understatement “Dramatic Debut,” the story is told that would more than a half-century later result in his No. 42 being retired by MLB … for every team. If his historic contribution seems so epic that it could never be overlooked, it’s worth recalling that his original Hall of Fame plaque upon his induction in 1971 made no reference to anything beyond his admittedly impressive statistics. Offered here is an impressive example of card No. 3, which is graded PSA 6. It's centered 70/30 both directions with a clean surface and NM corners.
