Here’s a truly difficult postwar stamp album, the 1949 Eureka SportStamps issue that features attractive 1 ½-by-2-inch full-color Stamps in a 40-page album that includes each player’s biography next to the Stamp location. With about two dozen players per team, the album presents only National Leaguers, with a similar production for the American League apparently envisioned but never happened. The 7 ½-by-9 ¼-inch album is broadly Good because of a crease on the back page, but actually presents closer to VG-Ex. The Stamps, boasting a roster that includes the likes of Jackie Robinson, Duke Snider, Pee Wee Reese, Stan Musial, Ralph Kiner and Warren Spahn, to name a few, are truly spectacular, with bold, vivid colors and gloss. They appear to be nothing short of Near-Mint or better condition, and have been affixed with a care and precision befitting Stamps in such pristine shape.
