Already a genuine star by the time his third season rolled around, Jackie would up the ante to fabled proportions with what was probably his finest season: a batting title at .342, stolen base crown with a career-high 37, 200-plus hits for the only time in his career and a startling 124 RBI for a player with a mere 16 home runs. In Robinson’s Season No. 3, he was already 30 years old, for reasons long since told, though World War II would have likely delayed his arrival in any event. Even with the relatively rustic quality of the printing process postwar, this remains a compelling card for its subject and the blistering red/orange background spot color that was the order of the day back then. This one arrives in a PSA 1.5 holder with 90/10 left to right centering and 80/20 top to bottom, with four lightly rounded corners.
