Offered is a nice, collectible example of the popular 1952 Wheaties issue, a near set missing only three cards and boasting a very presentable and uniform look, especially for an issue plagued by the difficulty of requiring hand cutting from the backs of cereal boxes. The near set has been reasonably well cut, essentially with an efficiency fairly typical for the genre, and with perhaps 80 percent of the group revealing some level of staining on the card backs. The array includes a complete set of the 10 baseball players, 20 cards in all with Portrait and Action artwork for each, the same format for the other 20 athletes in the set. From that 40-card subset, three cards are missing: Alice Bauer Action, Davis Action and Fraser Action. The breakdown, with the condition of the Portrait preceding the In Action: 1) Berra – Excellent and Good, 2) Campanella – Ex-Plus, 3) Feller – Ex, 4) Kell – VG-Ex and Ex, 5) Kiner – Ex, 6) Lemon – Ex-Mt and Ex, 7) Musial – Ex-Mt, 8) Rizzuto – Ex, 9) Roe – VG-Ex, 10) Ted Williams – Ex and Very Good, 11) Alice Bauer Portrait – VG, 12) Marlene Bauer – Ex, 13) Berg – VG and Good, 14) Davies – Ex-Mt and Ex, 15) Davis Portrait – VG, 16) Day – VG and Ex, 17) Diehl – Good and Ex, 18) Fears – VG-Ex and Ex, 19) Fraser Portrait – Good, 20) Graham – Ex, 21) Hogan – Good and VG-Ex, 22) Kramer – Good and Fair, 23) Lujack – Ex-Mt, 24) Mangrum – VG-Ex, 25) Mikan – Ex and Good, 26) Patterson – Ex, 27) Pollard – Ex-Mt, 28) Snead – VG and Good, 29) Walker – Fair and Ex, and 30) Waterfield – Ex.
