Here are 10 cards – Rookies all – from the iconic 1957 Topps Basketball set, a pioneering basketball issue that represented the first nationally distributed hoops set in a decade, and one that ironically would be the last Topps effort in that arena for another 10 years. Given the isolated nature of the issue, the vast majority of the cards are Rookies, and this group is representative of that genre, with all 10 afforded Rookie status. The breakdown: No 3 Johnston – Fair, 5 King – Good, 8 Ricketts – Fair, 14 Atha – Fair, 22 Marshall – Good, 31 Piontek – Fair, 54 Lloyd – Good, 56 Houbregs – Fair, 62 Gallatin – Good and 73 Paxon – Fair.
