Presented is an almost unprecedented opportunity to pick up a near set of the classic Hartland Football Running Backs Statues from 1959-62 in a remarkable, high-grade condition that is essentially Ex-Mt to Near-Mint, highlighted by bold, vivid colors and gloss and a striking uniform presentation. This outstanding array of the coveted Running Backs series has some duplication (noted) and is missing only the Eagles, which is offered elsewhere in this auction as an individual lot with the box included. As noted above, the group is pretty uniformly Ex-Mt to Near-Mint, with just the barest whisper of toning on some of the figures; in most instances there are no uniform numbers on the jerseys, with exceptions noted. The breakdown (14): 1) Browns – only a tiny shoe nick; 2) Cowboys – some nicks to the uniform numbers front and back (more severe on the front); 3) Bears – no issues; 4) Colts – toeplate needs tightening; 5) Cardinals – no issues; 6) Packers – outstanding piece, but notable nicks to No. 66 decal; 7) Packers – barest nick to No. 5 on back and some cracking on the base; 8) Rams – no issues; 9) 49ers – no issues; 10) Giants – no issues; 11) Lions – no issues; 12) Vikings – no front number, nicks to No. 10 on the back; 13) Steelers – face guard could be easily repaired; and 14) Redskins – barest nick to the front number. Ultimately, it’s incredibly rare to find so many of these coveted pieces in such superb overall condition, making the lot an uncommonly attractive option for advanced collectors.
