Presented is an important grouping of 1960 Wood Base Bobbin Head Dolls featuring some of the legendary original NFL franchises from the rough-and-tumble decade of postwar professional football showcased in the initial production effort of the quirky papier mache figures. The 7-inch figures generally boast excellent painting, bold colors and nice gloss, providing a compelling, uniform presentation that would fit seamlessly with even the finest collections. Some of the figures come with the original box and the colorful 2 ½-by-5 ½-inch label. Here’s the lineup: 1) Baltimore Colts – no box, presents Ex-Mt, with light toning and no NFL Sticker on the base; 2) Chicago Bears – no box, figure presents decently but has issues like cracks to the front of the face and back of the helmet (piece gone), plus a hole at the feet; 3) Detroit Lions – with box, presents Ex-Mt, with a one-inch crack at the base of the head and glue from a repair visible at feet; 4) Washington Redskins – with box, presents Ex-Mt-Plus, with light chipping at the base of the face and a tiny nick to the shoulder pad; and 5) San Francisco 49ers – with box, presents in Ex-Mt fashion, with some light chipping to the base of the chin and the helmet stripe.
