Presented is a truly impressive example of arguably the most elegant and underrated of the non-Topps 1960s baseball issues, the black-and-white 1960 Leaf offering that features perhaps the finest portraiture ever on a baseball card. In an issue that boasted superb gloss and snow-white borders and card backs, the set grandly presents spectacular portrait photography to unparalleled effect. It comes out to 28 percent Near-Mint, 52 percent Ex-Mt, 13 percent Excellent and just four percent Very Good, with just a handful of cards below to Good. The breakdown: No. 1 Aparicio – Very Good, 2 – Good, 12 Boyer – Near-Mint, 18 Gilliam – Good, 25 Grant (Dark Cap) – Fair, 25 Grant (White Cap) – Ex-Mt, 27 Brooks Robinson – Nr-Mt, 37 Snider – Ex-Mt-Plus, 52 Green Rookie – Ex-Mt-Plus, 69 Wilhelm – Ex-Mt, 71 Herzog – Nr-Mt, 89 Blanchard – Nr-Mt, 94 Smiths – Ex, 125 Anderson – Ex-Mt, 128 Cepeda – Nr-Mt, 141 Flood – Ex and 144 Bunning – VG.
