Along with adjacent lots of fellow icons Mantle, Maris and Mays and arguably one of the key bobbin head dolls of the postwar era, the legendary Roberto Clemente Bobbin Head is offered here with the Round White Base and a spectacular presentation that exceeds its technical grade. The 7 ½-inch classic boasts an outstanding painting effort, with crisp, vivid colors and similarly outstanding gloss, nudged only by nicks to the hat brim and chin and a tiny missing piece from the underside of the chin. Long recognized as having perhaps the most elegant and distinctive autograph of almost any of the Hall of Famers, ancient or modern, the hyper-delicate decal that notes “Roberto Clemente” in his facsimile signature on the base is in similarly strong condition, as is the Ex-Mt original box. It is simply an outstanding example of what is one of the more notable Bobbin Heads from the period.
