Hockey’s Golden Age of the mid-1960s gets the royal treatment in a sparkling mostly Near-Mint complete set from 1963, an iconic issue that features important cards from many of the legendary figures of the era. It is a remarkably consistent and uniform offering, with vivid color panels on the front and crisp blue printing on super-clean backs. It comes out to roughly 24 percent Ex-Mt-Plus and around 65 percent Near-Mint and a handful of cards below, along with perhaps a half dozen edging their way up to Near-Mint to Mint status. Here’s a breakdown of keys and condition anomalies: No. 4 – Ex-Mt-Plus, 6 – Ex-Mt-Plus, 10 – Ex-Mt-Plus, 15 – Ex-Mt-Plus, 21 Bruins – Ex-Mt, 23 Hull – Excellent, 27 – Ex-Mt-Plus, 33 Hull – Ex-Mt-Plus, 34 – Ex-Mt, 36 Mikita – Ex-Mt, 38 – Ex-Mt, 42 – Ex-Mt-Plus, 43 Blackhawks – Ex, 45 Plante – Ex-Mt-Plus, 57 Gilbert – Near-Mint to Mint, 59 – Ex-Mt-Plus, 61 – Ex-Mt-Plus, 63 Ratelle – VG-Ex, 64 Ex-Mt-Plus, 65 Rangers – Ex-Mt-Plus and 66 Checklist – presents Ex (mkd), but appears trimmed at 1/8-inch short side to side.
