April 3, 2025: Spring Auction
Offered is an outstanding array of Bobbin Heads from the Gold Base Series which ran from 1967-72 and included a number of scarce figures from some of the expansion teams of the era. In this sterling group, the lineup includes the Expos, Padres and Brewers, along with a pair of Oakland A’s Bobbin Heads and the sole Atlanta Braves figure from the genre. The Bobbin Heads are pretty uniformly Ex-Mt to Near-Mint, with outstanding paint and gloss, yielding bold, vivid colors and an attractive, consistent presentation. Here’s the breakdown (7): 1) Texas Rangers – a couple of tiny nicks under the chin, with a VG-Ex Box; 2) Montreal Expos – super color and gloss, with only the barest of nicks to the underside of the chin, the Expo logo decal on the cap and the “Montreal” decal on the base, plus a Good Box; 3) San Diego Padres – tiny nick to the ear, with Good Box; 4) Atlanta Braves – superb Near-Mint piece, with Very Good Box; 5) Milwaukee Brewers – light chipping to the underside of the chin and Gold Base, tiny nicks to the gold vest and the “Brewers” decal on the shirt; 6) Oakland A’s – solid Near-Mint with Excellent Box; and 7) Oakland A’s – slight nicks to the cap brim and base, plus light chafing on the underside of the chin.
