This is an important mid-1960s Minnesota Twins jersey attributed to one of the legendary utility players of the era, Cesar Tovar, who labored for five teams in a 12-year career but enjoyed his greatest success with the Twins. The heavy, semi-coarse pinstripe flannel has a seven-button front (intact), with the famed script Twins lettering on the front and Tovar’s No. 12 on the back in navy-on-red tackle twill. The appropriate Wilson labeling (Size 38) is found on the front tail, with flannel swatch tag below with “67” and “Set 1” embroidered in navy blue; “Tovar” in black chain stitching appears on a flannel swatch tag at the collar. The jersey has the custom short sleeves which were favored by Tovar in flannel jerseys and the famed Twins Minneapolis/St. Paul embroidered patch is found on the left sleeve; the shirt is in excellent condition, showing solid, consistent wear.
