Here then is an outstanding game-worn Chicago Bears road jersey from the early 1970s, a heavy durene classic with midnight navy round collar trim, double-ply shoulders and long sleeves with traditional Bears durene embedded striping. Two-color midnight navy and orange tackle twill is employed for the No. 21 front and back and for Turner’s name on a back nameplate. Wilson Size 42 labeling appears on the front tail (with slight separation), the appropriate style label for the 1967-73 period. The heavy shirt was used by the Bears in 1971 and 1972 and in 1973 for cold-weather contests. There are no repairs and the shirt reveals significant wear, with nice toning, an important artifact worn by Cecil Turner, a wide receiver who spent six NFL seasons with the Bears from 1968-73 and went to the 1970 Pro Bowl after returning a record-tying four kickoffs for touchdowns.
