Presented is truly stunning depiction of one of the most-important moments in baseball history, Henry Aaron’s April 8, 1974, home run at Atlanta Stadium that shattered Babe Ruth’s career home run record. Adding to the lustre of the magnificent 18-by-14-inch color photograph are a pair of bold, black Sharpie Aaron autographs, one smack dab in the middle of the diamond and the second in similar fashion in the lower right-hand corner on the blazing-white two-inch border. Entitled “No. 715 – It Happened This Way,” the image is elegantly matted and framed in two-inch black wood and plexiglass; the print is copyrighted 1974 and features the iconic MLB logo directly adjacent. The photograph was hung in Aaron’s office before being ultimately gifted by the Hall of Famer to his personal assistant, Susan Bailey. A copy of a Letter of Authenticity from Bailey accompanies the lot, along with a Bailey/Aaron hologram that is affixed to the piece.
