Offered is a simply outstanding game-worn and signed jersey from one of the National League’s great stars of the 1970s, Cesar Cedeno, in the first year of one of the iconic jerseys of the era. The famed Rainbow jersey is presented here, the gaudy cheesecloth knit shirt with “Astros” and the team’s star logo screened on the front and his No. 28 screened onto the circular bullseye patch on the back. Double Sand-Knit Size 44 labeling appears on the front tail, and the shirt shows nice, consistent wear. The Don Wilson No. 40 Memorial Patch has been removed from the left sleeve; a striking, blue Sharpie autograph appears atop his No. 28 on the back. The jersey is a stunning artifact from the four-time All-Star and five-time Gold Glover Cedeno, who turned in a stellar near-HOF career with 199 home runs, 976 RBI and 550 stolen bases in a 17-year lifetime log that may have suffered only from unfair, almost mythological expectations at its outset.
