This is an outstanding example of one of the truly unique Topps hockey issues in the 1980s, the 1980 set that boasts the Rookie cards of Hall of Famers Ray Bourque and Mike Gartner, plus five cards of the second-year phenom Wayne Gretzky, already the biggest star in the league and ultimately the face of professional hockey. All of this is neatly showcased in the striking card photos with stunning photography and outstanding colors and gloss; the infamous “Scratch-Off” discs on the front of the cards are pretty uniformly in pristine condition, with bold, solid blacks that haven't been touched. The set is found here in a virtually unimprovable Near-Mint to Near-Mint to Mint condition, with the emphasis to the upper end of the spectrum and not a whisper of difference between the iconic Hall of Famers and the lowliest of commons. That’s saying a lot in what is arguably one of the most unusual condition-sensitive hockey issues of the period because of those quirky “pucks” on the card fronts.
