With timing that could only be described as impeccable, Fleer leaped into the basketball card business in the mid-1980’s just in time to capitalize on the arrival in the NBA of one Michael Jordan, a rookie saddled with big expectations that were about to get a whole lot bigger. Fleer produced its first basketball issue in 1986, and the Michael Jordan rookie card would work in tandem with a host of others to – eventually – make the 1986 Fleer issue one of the hottest in the card-collecting world. Here then is an unparalleled opportunity to pick up the three key first issues by Fleer, with attendant Sticker inserts, in a simply blazing Near-Mint to Mint condition that are obviously straight from packs and simply unimprovable. The 1986 issue (132 cards) is in nine-pocket pages and album; the sets from 1987 and 1988 (also 132 cards each) are in boxes and in the same startling high grades, as validated by the 13 cards that have been third-party slabbed and authenticated. Like their counterparts throughout the rest of all three sets, the slabbed keys have blazing colors, good gloss and a spectacular, seemingly uncirculated presentation that makes this a special chance for a serious high-grade collector.
