Sir Edmund Hillary (1919-2008) He was a New Zealand beekeeper, diplomat, explorer, and mountaineer, best remembered for leading the first successful ascent of Mount Everest 1953; and Tenzing Norgay (1914-1986) He was one of the first two people known to reach the summit of Mount Everest, which he accomplished with Edmund Hillary. 9-1/2 x 7 certificate, produced to be used for both the gold and silver issues - not as a set. This certificate was used for the Nepal, KM#1005, 100 Rupee silver issue, est. mintage of 1500, hand-signed in black ink by both men, with signatures authenticated by BAS with a full LOA.
