This is a spectacular example of one of the revolutionary issues of the 1960s, the “Tall Boys” set of 2 ½-by-4 11/16-inch oversized cards that are presented here in largely unimprovable Near-Mint condition, with every card neatly entombed in a PSA holder and nothing below a PSA 7 to be found (average grade is 7.07). The unique size of the cards and the blazing color and gloss make the issue one of the most popular among serious hockey collectors; the issue has added lustre with an incredible array of expensive shortprints, Rookies and even a pair of Checklists that are not for the faint of heart in any high grade. The lineup includes the likes of Howe, Hull, Beliveau, Henri Richard, Horton, Mikita, Sawchuk, Bathgate, Henry, Plante, Mahovlich, Bucyk, Lindsay, Gadsby and Hall, to name a few, plus those difficult – and expensive – short prints – Williams, Pilote, Maki, Dornhoefer Rookie, Vlllemurre, Rousseau, Hicke, and Nesterenko Rookie - some with Rookie card status to complicate the pricing issue. Rookies include No. 1 Martin, Angotti and Paille, As noted above, the default grade is PSA 7; there are a handful of outliers, all of them landing above the PSA 7 range.
