Presented is a spectacular and almost unimprovable example of the most important basketball issue of the modern era, the 1986-87 Fleer set that includes the Rookie card of Michael Jordan along with a host of other Basketball Hall of Famers. This array is a striking Near-Mint to Mint or better, cards essentially as-issued nearly 35 years ago, a remarkable assemblage with the vast number of Rookies and Tier One Hall of Famers found in a blazing, pristine condition that provides no distinction between the elite and the lowliest of commons. Headlined by slabbed examples of both the Jordan Rookie (PSA 5.5) and his Sticker (PSA 6 st), the 132-card set and 11-card Sticker are simply superb, with blazing red, white and blue background colors that are as crisp and vivid as can be. With Topps stepping away from the NBA after 1981, Fleer would ultimately pinch hit as the mainstream basketball card provider in 1986, and with the arrival of the sensational Rookie Michael Jordan, the Philadelphia-based company could hardly have shown better timing. Given the five-year hiatus of nationally distributed hoops cards, the 1986 Fleer issue ended up with almost two dozen Rookie cards, including some of the biggest names in the NBA. That lineup includes Jordan, Charles Barkley, Patrick Ewing, Clyde Drexler, Karl Malone, Hakeem Olajuwon, Isiah Thomas, Dominique Wilkins and James Worthy, to name a few. As noted, the condition is nothing short of astonishing, making this a rare opportunity to pick up one of the most-important issues of the modern era.
