Back in the Swinging 1970's, the Portland Mavericks were a legendary independent minor league team owned by actor Bing Russell. In 1974, Bing's son Kurt was the promotions guy--check the photo on page 15. (Kurt also played for the team in 1973, and later married Goldie Hawn.) The 1975 club inevitably included "Ball Four" author Jim Bouton. The 1975 program includes an ad for an upcoming Max Patkin Day with a classic Patkin photo, plus a day game lineup insert versus a Eugene Emeralds club that featured a teenage Mario Soto.
