Hard to imagine a more compelling baseball artifact: the full-size World Series Trophy from the Series MVP who nailed down his place in MLB history with a stunning three-win effort that propelled his Detroit Tigers to the pinnacle of the baseball world. Mickey Lolich’s full-size World Series trophy measures 23 inches in height and weighs a hefty 25 pounds. All of the elegant gold-plated components, from the 20 pennants of every major league team in descending height and the 2-inch-wide gold band that surrounds the 13-inch in diameter black Lucite base to the 9-inch in diameter gold ring at the center of the trophy are in spectacular condition, seemingly as-issued and problem free, with only the barest whisper of wear at the top edge of the crown that accents the gold ring. The brushed-silver actual size baseball at the bottom of the gold-plated ring reveals only the barest bit of the expected tarnishing. The engraving of the gold ring encircling the Lucite base includes the names of all the members of the 1968 Tigers, manager and coaches along with the designation of “1968 World Champions.” The trophy remains in absolutely stunning condition. The gold ring and brushed-silver baseball at the center of the trophy display perfectly but are a bit loose and can wobble if the trophy is tilted. This is presumably something that could be easily addressed, and in any event the trophy presents with all elements in precise alignment with no jiggling involved. The entire trophy further rests atop a 16-inch square and 8-inch high wooden pedestal cover in red velvet, which does show a bit of wear at some points near the base, but nothing that materially detracts from the presentation. A heavy black-metal carrying case stands 34 inches high and 17 inches square, with brass corners, latches and handles and exhibits minimal wear. These full-size trophies were only available to players wishing to purchase them at a substantial cost, something that relatively few players assented to, making a personal trophy of this size from the 1968 World Series MVP all the more desirable. It's huge so local pickup is encouraged due to the substantial shipping cost this one will require. Comes with an LOA from Mickey Lolich noting that it is his personal full-size 1968 Detroit Tigers World Series Championship Team Trophy, adding that he pitched and won three games and was named the Series MVP, attested to by a blue Sharpie signature.

NOTE: This trophy was manufactured after the 1968 World Series, in either late 1968 or 1969. Lolich requested the larger trophy and was required to get permission from the Tigers and commissioner Bowie Kuhn to get a larger trophy. The trophy will arrive with an LOA from Mickey Lolich stating that he purchased the trophy in that time span.
