This striking crystal award was presented to Mickey Lolich at a celebration in 1979 noting the 25 years of the MLB/Sport Magazine World Series MVPs. A 9-by-13-inch wood pedestal that is 4 ½ inches tall displays a 6-inch-square and 4-inch front to back crystal with elegant etched baseball inside denoting “World Series MVP 1955-79.” A 10 ½-inch by 2 ½-inch polished silver nameplate affixed to the wooden base has the engravings “Major League Baseball – Sport Magazine, Honor 25 Years of World Series Heroes, Mickey Lolish, Detroit Tigers – 1969.” A fluorescent lamp is installed inside the wooden base to light up the crystal; a 68-inch cord with on/off switch extends from the back of the base. Included with the lot is a contemporary 8-by-10-inch color photograph of 18 of the 25 award winners at a reception that also featured MLB Commissioner Bowie Kuhn, with all handsomely outfitted in period-appropriate 1970s leisure suits. The photo is enclosed in a brushed gold frame with easel stand. All elements of the trophy appear to be essentially as-issued and problem free.
