Charles “Chub” Feeney was President of the National League for 17 years from 1970-86, so this amazing near-dozen of pristine Spalding Feeney National League baseballs is a remarkable homage to that ancient era when the Senior Circuit dominated in the All-Star Game at least. The Spalding store box is in superb condition for its age, maybe Excellent-Plus, earning that nod only because of a small doink to the front-right corner that may even have nudged the inside Spalding box in the No. 10 location. The other nine are seemingly Near-Mint or better, and all are tightly sealed and presumably eager to unveil well-aged baseballs that almost certainly will not look their age. As noted the interior boxes are pristine and all include a small red store pricing label affixed that bears the handwritten notation “K2.97,” which for those of you keeping score at home means a $2.97 price tag on each. Methinks there may be some inflationary pressures that are likely to adjust that figure upwards as the auction gets underway.
