This intriguing game-worn zipper-front road jersey from the 1971 Chicago White Sox is attributed to the ultimate major league cup of coffee guy, Roe Skidmore, whose name appears on team embroidery on the collar label. In 1971 Skidmore, barely a year removed from his aforementioned major league cup of coffee (1 for 1, batting average 1.000) with the uptown Chicago Cubs, wore this uniform with the Tucson Toros in one of his best minor-league campaigns, 20 homers and 77 RBI to go with a .299 batting average. The powder-blue zipper-front shirt shows game use, with White Sox logo on the front in red and white tackle twill and No. 16 on the left shoulder and on the back in the same fashion. There is barely a whisper of puckering on the numerals and logo and minimal fraying of the red and white stitching. The shirt has red and white trim on the collars and sleeves and a zipper that is in good condition and working order down the front. Wilson Size 44 labeling appears on the left front tail above team embroidery in red stitching of “1971 Set 1.”
