This is a well-worn California Angels home pullover jersey from 1975 worn by journeyman pitcher Dave Sells. The shirt has “Angels” with the halo across the front in red and black tackle twill, with some puckering and light fraying of the stitching; black and red elastic appears at the collar and sleeves. Sells’ No. 29 on the front in black and red tackle twill reveals puckering and some fraying and even loosening of some of the stitching. On the back his number again reveals the expected puckering. A Rawlings Size 40 tag appears at the bottom of the front-right tail, with adjacent flag tag of “Set 1, #8P, 1973.” The California State logo with Angels halo is affixed to the left sleeve and is in outstanding condition. The jersey is intact and reveals considerable wear and noticeable staining, most prominently on the front. Sells had a four-year major league career from 1972-75, most of which was with the Angels and a brief stint at the end with the Dodgers. He finished with a lifetime 11-7 log with a 3.86 ERA.
