This impressive and weighty lot covers the National Football League for an ardent collector with high-grade complete Topps sets for nearly a 20-year span from 1973-90, then add in the complete Fleer run from 1978-83, some smaller Topps issues and some Score and Topps Traded boxed sets. While literally weighty, it also features PSA-slabbed versions of three of the most important cards from this august group: the 1976 Topps Payton, 1981 Topps Montana and 1986 Topps Rice Rookies, with Montana PSA 8 and Payton PSA 7 and Rice coming in at PSA 5. For the most important and numerically impressive element of the lot – the 18-year run of complete Topps mainstream sets from 1973-90 – the count comes out to an amazing 8,580 cards, with the whole group largely Near-Mint to Near-Mint to Mint, with the sole exception 1974 Topps just a whisper below at Ex-Mt to Nr-Mt. There are another 471 cards – Ex-Mt to Nr-Mt – in that earlier mentioned run of the charming Fleer Team Action sets in binders from 1978-83, plus a 1987 Wonder Bread issue (24), 1984-85 Topps NFL Stars smaller sets (52) and even 1982-85 Washington Redskins Police sets (63). The final pieces would be a 1989 Score set (328, missing No. 257 Sanders and No. 270 Aikman Rookies, a 1989 Topps Traded boxed set (132) and a 1990 Score Traded set (110) that is factory sealed and in the original cellophane.
