Here’s a group that offers a nice glimpse into the giddy period in the hobby between 1982 and 1992 when new manufacturers emerged to challenge Topps in both baseball and football. The array of more than 4,600 cards is dominated by factory sets and listed here in chronological order. All are essentially Near-Mint or better, and most simply as-issued from the factory. The breakdown: 1) 1982 Topps Football Complete Set in binder (528); 2) 1985 Topps Football Complete Set in binder (398); 3) 1988 Donruss Baseball’s Best (396) in original store packaging with cellophane intact; 4) 1989 Donruss Baseball (659) – missing the Griffey card; 5) 1990 Score Baseball factory set (704); 6) 1991 Fleer Football factory set (432); 7) 1991 Upper Deck Football factory set (500) plus nine Holographic cards; 8) 1992 Upper Deck Football factory set (620); and 9) 1992 Fleer Football factory set (480).
