Outstanding autograph on attractive card. Herb Score was Sandy Koufax before Koufax developed into the pitcher he became. Mickey Mantle considered Herb Score to be the best lefthanded pitcher he ever faced. Score was an all-star in his first two seasons ('55, '56 and led American League in strikeouts in both 1955, and 1956. Score was seriously injured by a line drive off the bat of Gil McDougald that struck him in the face in early 1957 and never again was able to regain his early form. By 1962, his on field career ended. This autograph was signed in in May, 2001 on this 1956 Topps No. 140 in blue Sharpie. The card a White Back variation, which makes this Score RC even more impressive. Slabbed by BAS.
