Presented here is a 1974 Montreal Expos powder-blue road jersey worn by Mike Torrez, one of the top pitchers in the major leagues in the 1970s and early 1980s. That season, Torrez turned in an outstanding 15-8 log with a 3.57 ERA, easily his best season north of the border and his last season in Montreal before being traded to the Orioles in a blockbuster deal. The all-original jersey is a Wilson size 44 as attested to by labeling at the collar; team tagging on the front left tail has “74 Set 1” in black stitching on a matching powder-blue tag. The classic Montreal Expos logo in red, white and blue tackle twill is stitched onto the left breast with lower-case “expos” underneath; there is some light puckering to the logo and also to his No. 24 on the opposite breast and on the back, both in blue and white tackle twill. This is a standout jersey, showing good game use, from one of the great hurlers of his era.
