Offered is a California Angels game-worn home jersey with Frank Tanana’s No. 40 front and back and attributed to the legendary hurler who toiled for the club from 1973-80. The knit jersey has the appropriate W. A. Goodman & Sons Size 44 tag at bottom left front, with “Brown” handwritten in marker across it, suggesting it had subsequently been sent to a minor-league affiliate. This is an unaltered jersey with Tanana's Number 40 on the back and at the State of California Angels logo on left sleeve. Jersey shows wear with some small staining on the front along with indications that the No. 4 may have bled front and back upon folding. Tanana’s famed No. 40 appears front and back, with some wear to the red and navy-blue tackle twill elements and some puckering of the red tackle twill on the front “Angels” across the chest and his number. The shirt has the navy-blue and red elastic trim on the collar and sleeves. This is an intriguing artifact from the 1974 Rookie of the Year and a man with decidedly Cooperstown-ish numbers, like a 240-236 log, 3.66 ERA and 2,773 strikeouts over a 21-year career.
