This is a handsome group of the colorful 1933 Sport Kings issue, the 2 3/8-by-2 7/8-inch card set that is arguably the most popular multi-sport issue in the hobby, picturing legendary athletes from an incredibly diverse range of sports. Three baseball stars anchor the issue; this array includes the Rookie basketball card of Ed Wachter, considered the greatest center of his era, plus golfing icon Walter Hagen and tennis giant Bill Tilden. Here’s the breakdown: No. 5 Ed Wachter – Good; No. 8 Walter Hagen – presents Excellent, but two light pencil notations on the reverse; No. 11 Charles Jewtraw – VG-Ex; No. 12 Bobby McLean – presents Very Good, but light pencil notation on reverse; No. 13 Laverne Fatour – VG-Ex; No. 16 Bill Tilden – Ex-Plus; No. 25 Ralph Snoddy – VG; No. 32 Lapchick – Excellent; No. 36 Willie Hoppe – presents Ex-Plus, with light pencil notation on reverse; and No. 39 Jack Westrope – VG-Ex-Plus.
