This is an opportunity to pick up a pair of high-grade 1960s Topps insert sets from baseball and football, the delicate 5-by-7-inch pin-ups that were inserted in baseball and football packs in 1967 and 1968 respectively. The pin-ups feature large color photos of legendary figures from both sports, found here on a thin paper stock that makes condition a concern, exacerbated by the indignity of multiple folds in order to fit them in mainstream card packs. The 32-card 1967 Topps Baseball issue is a sparkling Ex-Mt to Near-Mint, with the emphasis to the upper end of the spectrum. Some of the keys: No. 6 Mantle – Near-Mint, No. 5 Yastrzemski – Ex-Mt, No. 11 Clemente – Nr-Mt, No. 12 Mays – Nr-Mt, No. 15 Aaron – presents Nr-Mt, but tiny 1/16-inch tear at a fold, No.16 Drysdale – Ex-Mt-Plus, No. 19 Frank Robinson – Nr-Mt, No. 21 Kaline – Nr-Mt, No. 23 Killebrew – Nr-Mt, No. 25 Morgan – Nr-Mt, No. 26 Santo – Nr-Mt, No. 27 Torre – Nr-Mt, No. 28 Marichal – Nr-Mt and No. 32 McCovey – Ex-Mt-Plus. The 1968 Topps Football (16) Pin-ups are in a similarly outstanding condition, essentially Near-Mint, with a couple Ex-Mt-Plus and a lineup that includes the likes of Unitas, Starr, Sayers, Kelly, Dawson, Hayes and Maynard.
