Here then is a unique lot that is headlined by six vintage examples of the legendary Baseball Magazine, the newsstand staple for prewar baseball fans that was a popular monthly for generations. Along with the six issues comes a five-DVD boxed set celebrating the New York Yankees’ 17 World Series titles between 1943 and 2000. The issues of Baseball Magazine, with bold, red spot color on the covers and typically 50 pages of news, columns, artwork and features inside, are 9 ½-by-11 ½ inches; these examples present decently – perhaps Good to Very Good – but would be saddled with a lower technical grade because of punch holes that go all the way through the pages but surprisingly detract little from the presentation. The three later issues from the 1930s and 1941 present a bit better, perhaps Very Good to Excellent. The breakdown: 1) February 1922 – Frankie Frisch on cover; 2) October 1927 – Joe McCarthy on cover; 3) March 1929; 4) August 1933 – Play at Second on the cover; 5) September 1934 – Mel Harder on cover; and 6) November 1941 – New York Yankees team picture on cover. The DVD boxed set includes the five DVDs in individual plastic cases, seemingly Near-Mint, and housed in a Very Good condition box of 5 3/4-by-8 inches.
