Offered is an incredible near set of the iconic 1960 Topps Football issue that is in simply spectacular, essentially Near-Mint to Near-Mint to Mint overall condition, in an array missing only four cards, albeit four key Hall of Famers. Still, it’s difficult to imagine finding a more impressive near set of this colorful classic, with bold background colors and a clean, consistent look and uniform presentation. As noted, the array is solidly Near-Mint or better, with a significant number of cards reaching Near-Mint to Mint status, and a handful below, mostly to Ex-Mt. Perhaps two dozen cards have the kind of centering that might prompt thoughts of an upgrade, though not all of those would be severe enough to dictate a formal off-center designation. The four missing cards: No. 1 Unitas, No. 23 Jim Brown, No. 51 Starr and No. 64 Gifford. The overall condition range of Near-Mint to Near-Mint to Mint applies to the entire roster of Hall of Famers and stars just as it does for the lowliest of commons. The lot is easily one of the nicest 1960 Topps Football sets that we’ve ever handled.
