Here is a striking game-worn jersey from Red Sox Manager Eddie Kasko in 1972 when the club narrowly missed winning the American League East Division by ½ game. The all-original and as-issued knit pullover jersey has the appropriate McAuliffe tagging at the front, with adjacent flap tags “1972” in red above and “44” below in blue. There is some significant staining, most notably on the front and on the back tail. Kasko’s No. 30 is on the back in black and red felt and “Boston” appears across the front in the same format. This was the first year for knit jerseys for the Sox, who wore flannels before the All-Star Break.
