From the glory days of Depression Era baseball in Detroit comes this important homage to the legendary Tigers teams that captured two pennants and a World Series crown – and two runner-up seasons - in a span of only four years in the middle of the decade. With Hall of Famers Mickey Cochrane, Hank Greenberg, Charlie Gehringer and Goose Goslin leading the way, the team would reach the World Series two years in a row, in 1934 and 1935, with Cochrane, Greenberg and Gehringer earning league MVP nods in three of the four campaigns. This 28-page 1934 Detroit Tigers in Picture magazine presents these legendary ballplayers in a 6-by-9-inch format, with attractive green sepia-tone images inside. The magazine is in Good condition, with some of the expected wear and minor tears that might typically encumber an 86-year-old artifact. Accompanying the piece is a 5 ½-inch Detroit Tigers Souvenir Pencil, with “Tigers” in script on the barrel, along with an attractive vintage-era Tigers logo, all in Near-Mint condition.
