Here are nine sets of mid-1980s Topps Football that are essentially as good as they get, essentially as-issued blazers that are Near-Mint to Mint or better, 3,557 glistening cards with spectacular color, gloss and razor-sharp corners. These cards are clearly from vending, boasting the coveted “vending bend” that bespeaks of uncirculated cardboard of the highest order. At 396 cards each, there are three sets from each of the three years, with a mere four cards (Nos. 36, 45, 160 and 161) missing from one of the three sets from 1987 and the Jerry Rice Rookies missing from the three 1986 sets. In addition, one of the 1986 sets includes the 1,000-Yard subset and two of the 1987 sets feature the same subsets.
