This is a truly extraordinary lot headlined by several vintage football pennants and augmented by a vast array of football peripheral issues from Topps, Fleer and several police sets, plus a lengthy list of buttons and pins from both sports. It’s an old-style lot that begs for a good deal of examination and offers ample reward for the effort. We'll start with a 1950s era New York Yankees 26-inch pennant (Very Good) and a complementary pennant from the football Giants, circa 1940s, a 28-inches in Excellent condition. There are also eight of the vintage mini pennants (12-inch), also Excellent, that include the Reskins, Bears, Cardinals, Eagles, Oilers, Chiefs and Astros. Next up is a important pub, The Lombardi Era and the Green Bay Packers 1959-67, 8 ½-by-11 inches, 68 pgs., with Ex-Mt cover and Nr-Mt inside (Lombardi on cover). There are an estimated 350 pieces in an array of mostly Topps peripheral issues, including 1969 Topps 4-in-1 Stamps (100 or so, including 17 HOFers – including Unitas, Starr, Butkus and Griese), a huge group of the 1969 Stamp Albums, a few with stamps affixed inside but the majority pristine and as-issued; there are Topps team sets from 1976 Packers and 1978 Patriots (24 ct. each), an assortment of 1976 Topps Wonder Bread with 12 HOFers, and an array of 1970s and 1980s Topps football stars and Specials (38), including Payton (5), Bradshaw, Harris, Dorsett, Elway, Taylor and Simpson. A final element of the card section includes Fleer Hall of Fame set (14, Good to Very Good), Cranes Discs (16, Near-Mint), police sets from the 1990 Packers and Raiders (32) plus 15 additional miscellaneous football cards. A massive section of buttons (mostly Near-Mint, a few below) includes 3 ½-inch in diameter gems (9) from the Bears (2), 1985 Patriots, 49ers, 1988 Bears, 1987 Redskins, Patriots, and USFC Mich. Panthers; a pair of 1 ¾-inch buttons from the Vikings and Falcons (with ribbon); a vintage 49ers 1 ¼-inch with ribbon and football trinket; assorted smaller buttons from the Vikings, Super Bowl XX, Super Bowl XXVI, plus an embroidered Colts Helmet patch, Cowboys 2-inch patch and Bears keychain. There are about a dozen baseball buttons and pins (many in original packaging), including Aaron 715, Aaron Thanks Milwaukee 1954-76, 2004 Red Sox, Orioles, Conigliaro, Royals (with ribbon), Cubs logo, and Ryan and Dodgers pins with clasps.
