The popular 1970 Topps Football set is offered here in a near-complete lot that presents the attractive issue in a highly presentable Very Good to Excellent condition. This lot boasts most of the keys in a condition reasonably compatible with the overall range. As is fairly typical with the issue, there is some evidence of scuffing and loss of lustre, most prominently in the lower numbers, with an estimate of perhaps 30 percent of the lot reaching Excellent condition, many of those in the higher-numbered series.
About four or five cards fall into the poor range, including the first and second series checklists, both of which are marked up. The missing Nos. are: 25, 63, 88, 105, 116, 130, 141, 142, 162, 175, 176, 192, 197, and 254. The keys are as follows: No. 1 Dawson – Fair; 10 Griese – Excellent o/c; 30 Starr – Good; 70 Sayers – Ex o/c; 80 Tarkenton – Poor; 90 Simpson – Ex-Mt miscut; 150 Namath – Good; 180 Unitas – Very Good; and 190 Butkus – Good.
