Here are two complete sets of the quirky 1976 SSPC Baseball card issue, the renegade upstart from that giddy bicentennial year that provided collectors with that rarest of items, a nationally distributed mainstream MLB set that didn't bear the Topps imprimatur. The 630-card set is found here in essentially as-issued condition, essentially Near-Mint to Near-Mint to Mint or even better, in this instance jostled a bit in one of the two sets with some barely perceptible wrinkles ¼-inch wide on a handful of cards, victims, no doubt, of the dreaded and still ubiquitous rubber band. The second set is without incident, and both provide an extremely fascinating alternative to the typically buttoned-down Topps offerings, with some of the more hilarious photos ever ventured onto a baseball card, and a lineup of all the legendary figures of the period.
