Presented is an important card featuring Ed Walsh and Frederick Payne in one of the unique early tobacco issues, the 1911 T201 Mecca Double Folders that feature attractive artwork of two players that fold over to allow them to share a pair of legs. The 2 3/16th-by-4 ¾-inch cards have a full-bleed image of the primary player on the front and a smaller image of the secondary player on the back that shares space with statistics for both and the Mecca Cigarettes script at the bottom. The offered card is found in an SGC 4 holder, a condition markedly better than these unusual treasures are typically encountered in mature collections. The paintings of the legendary Hall of Famer hurler Walsh on the front and Payne on the back are crisp and colorful; almost all of the light staining and toning appear on the back on the section with the statistics and Mecca Cigarettes script.
