Presented is an important card from one of the truly difficult early tobacco issues, the 1914 T213 Coupon Cigarettes offering that looks for all the world like T206 cards but is markedly rarer. The fact that the cards were produced and distributed almost exclusively in Louisiana only adds to their cachet. Among the keys are the Frank Chance cards, including this New York Batting, one of four different versions of the legendary Hall of Famer in the set, an example that is found in an SGC Authentic (Altered) holder, with a very erratic cut on three sides; the pastel yellow and green background colors showcase the Chance image, and the “Chance New York, Amer.” typeface in blue is distinct and differentiates it from its T206 counterparts but is cut off a bit with the erratic cut at the bottom. The card back has some dirt and staining to the Coupon Cigarettes back, which also has a piece of cardboard affixed to the bottom, affecting perhaps 40 percent of the surface area.
