Offered is an important card from one of the truly difficult early tobacco issues, the 1914 T213 Coupon Cigarettes set that looks for all the world like T206 cards but is markedly rarer. The fact that the cards were produced and distributed almost exclusively in Louisiana only adds to their cachet. Among the keys are the Frank Chance cards, including this Los Angeles Portrait, one of four different versions of the legendary Hall of Famer in the set, an example that is found in a PSA 1 holder but actually presents a bit better than the technical grade. The card has excellent centering left to right and only a modest bias to the top and fairly decent corners; the luminous yellow background color nicely showcases the Chance image, and the “Chance Los Angeles” typeface in blue is distinct and differentiates it from its T206 counterparts.
