Presented is a popular Hughie Jennings card from one of the truly difficult early tobacco issues, the 1914 T213 Coupon Cigarettes Type 2 offering that looks for all the world like T206 cards but is markedly rarer. The fact that the cards were produced and distributed almost exclusively in Louisiana only adds to their cachet. There are two variations of Jennings cards in the issue, including this Both Hands Showing example that is found in an SGC 1 holder. The card has 55/45 centering left to right and barely a whisper of bias to the top; the elegant pastel yellow background color effectively showcases the Jennings image, along with the “Jennings, Detroit” typeface in blue that is distinct and differentiates it from its T206 counterparts. The Coupon Cigarettes back is decent, with bold black printing and significant staining and toning.
